What is LIFE???

Life is just a 4 letter English word, generally.

According to Wikipedia, life is a characteristic that distinguishes living organisms from those who do not.

“Life”, whenever someone asks you the question ‘What is life?’

You take a deep breathe, random thoughts roam in your mind, you blink your eyes a couple of times, you let out a sigh and say whatever comes to your mind.

When in a group, if the topic of discussion comes to the point “LIFE”, accidently or intentionally, almost everyone in the group switches to silent mode and keeps thinking. And then some go philosophical, some go emotional, some use their sense of humour to hide their thoughts and some say “Yeah, I agree with his/her point”.

To the word ‘LIFE’ everyone has their definitions, depending on how they look at their life or the way their life has shaped up till now.

And while I was thinking about my life, this thought came to my mind.

Life is like a “Mobile Phone”.

As everyone has their ‘own’ mobile phone, they have their ‘own’ life.

Every mobile is not the same, so is Life.

But, every mobile has same set of basic functionalities like,

Contacts, Call Records, Messages, Profile modes, Connectivity, Entertainment, file manager and etc.

Now, I’m just gonna compare the features of mobile phone with ‘Life’, just generally and not specifically.

Phonebook/Contacts

Just like the contacts in your mobile, you have so many people in your life.

Some of them are known to you by birth, some of them were strangers who then became good friends/cool-buddies/best friends/life-partners/enemies/irritators/time-pass friends/ Ex-friends. And some of them are people, who just meet us accidently and leave an impression for the lifetime.

In your life, you have so many things to do, so many things not-to-do. But it’s upto you, to decide what to do and what not-to-do.

Call Records

These are the records of calls; you have dialled, received and missed. Some of them are known and rest are unknown.

Similarly in your life, you have the people whom you have missed and who has missed you. You have memories of people you’ve spoken, met and spent time with.

You have people, who spoke to you, made several attempts to interact with you, reach to you and people who really really care for you, no matter what happens.

And the people who are really close to you (like speed dial no’s).

Messages

Just as you have sent messages, received messages, drafts and some messages in My folders in your mobile, in your life you’ve said many things, heard many things, many things are left un-said and some special moments, words which occupy space in your mind which brings smiles to your face whenever you remember them.

Profile Modes

You have different profile modes in your mobile. Similarly, in your life you go through different ‘Moods’’.

Normal mood, abnormal mood, happy mood, very very happy mood, sad mood, depressed mood, upset mood.

And some special personalised moods. Like, I-hate-my-life mood, I-love-my-life mood, I-feel-good-mood, I-don’t-care-mood, I-can-do-every-damn-thing mood and I’m-good-for-nothing mood and etc.

Connectivity

There are different ways of connecting other devices with your mobile phone.

Bluetooth, GPRS, Wi-Fi, 3G etc. These are the ways to share and interact with other devices.

Similarly you ‘share’ things with others, ‘accept’ things from others. And some people become “paired” in your life.

Entertainment

Your mobile offers different ways to entertain yourself. Similarly, your life offers you many opportunities to enjoy, loose yourself and let-it-go. All you have to do is, just spot the opportunity and make the most of it.

File Manager

Just like the files, you have the memories that you want to ‘save’, memories that you want to ‘delete’ from your memory. And just like the ‘hidden’ files in your mobile, you have memories, moments, dark secrets that you never want to share with others.

Everyone has problems, worries, regrets and wishes in life.

Make sacrifices, compromises, take your chances, take risks and live your ‘today’ like there is no ‘tomorrow’.

And don’t just define “Life”, live it and make it meaningful.

College

“College” is the most important phase of education and life.

It’s the place where you ‘grow-up’, actually.

You enter the college as an amateur teenager and exit as ‘grown-up’, matured person.
It’s the place, where you are taught important lessons of class and life. There are too many things taught, too many choices and chances offered. And you are free to decide the choices you make, the chances you take and lessons you want to learn for your sake.

It’s the flexible, transitional, transforming, attracting, distracting phase of life and most confusing too.

Confusion - The dangerous syndrome which can be seen in almost every youngster.

Right from the initial phase of college, you are being offered Confusing options.
• Selection of subjects ( Science, Arts, Commerce, Management, Computers, Technical, Industrial and etc )
• Selection of college ( Top colleges, Best colleges, good colleges and any college)
• Selection of location ( Near home, In home town, In metro, In big city or anywhere in world)

And after entering the college, just when you start to settle down and breathe normally, you’ll be bombarded again with a lot of attractions/distractions.

 Mobiles (one of the important, useful and dangerous invention by human).
 Computers and computer games.
 Internet (4th Basic need of youngster).
 Chatting, online and offline.
 Addictions (Differs from person to person).
 Class bunks, mass bunks, proxies.
 Love/s, like/s, crushes, infatuations and after this stage, Break-ups, make-ups, patch-ups.
 And different categories of friends with the opposite gender- just friends, just good friends, boyfriend/girlfriend and ex-es.
 Unknown calls, unknown messages, unknown friend requests and unknown mails.
 And then comes the toughest part, “EXAMS”. Internals, quizzes, surprise tests, assignments and Externals.

Ufffff!!! So many things….

The teenager who is, not-20 not-15, the not-adult not-kid, the not-mature not-innocent human being has to surpass all these attractions/distractions and compulsions to become a responsible and mature citizen.

And he/she has to decide on his/her own or with the help of others, which ways will take him higher and which will take him the opposite way.

And that’s really really tough task and by the time you come to a conclusion, the train of time would have just left your station.

Don’t regret if your present has not shaped as you wanted, may be your Destiny is the Destination where you are right now. Everything happens for a reason.

And maybe, the place where you are right-now is better than where you wanted-to-be.

The Con-Fused State of Youngsters

India, the country with 28 states, a population of 1.2billion, a majority of them are Youngsters.

Youngsters, the living beings with enormous energy, hormones functioning at their best, hot blooded, living an adventurous life with many un-told dreams, un-fulfilled wishes but still love the way they live their life.

Youngsters, the young people regrets the things about their past, the things that could have been better in past. Like,
I should have studied well for my exams.
I should have utilised my time in school/college.
I should have joined the other company.
I should have expressed my feelings to that girl/boy.
I should/shouldn’t have sent the friend request.
I shouldn’t have touched cigarette, alcohol.

Youngsters, the young people always hope and await for a better future than their past, than their present. Like,
I will go abroad and make some more money and live a hi-fi lifestyle.
I will join a big company, after sometime.
I will get that girl for sure or I will make that guy talk to me.
I will send the friend request today.
I will get over him/her in sometime.
I will quit all my bad habits tomorrow; this is my last time, the last cigarette, the last drink.

The state of youth is hanging in between, the “would-have-been-better-past” and “will-be-better-in-future”.

Let’s face it, you cannot change your past, you cannot predict your future.
Your past may not have moments which are adorable, most memorable, worth of sharing, but the way you have shaped now, all credit goes to “Your Past”.
And about your future, nobody can predict it, you can live above 100 years or you can die just after reading this. But you have the choice of making a better future.

The grass is always brighter on the other side.

You cannot walk with one leg in past and other one in future. So, put your feet in the “present gear”, and speed up to the destination where you want to be, in future.
